In 1986, Pal Adult Day Care was established on Powell Street in Midland, Tx. John and Freddie Utsman soon assumed leadership of the program and subsequently changed the name to Mission Adult Day Care. In 1990, the organization incorporated and acquired state licensure with Medicaid approval under the name of Mission Health Care, Inc. Within the same year, Mission's clientele substantially increased due to the assumption of clients from the recently closed Lutheran Adult Day Care. At that time, the facility was relocated to Ohio Street where it remained for several years before moving to a location within the Manor Park Retirement Center. In March, 2001, Mission Center moved into a facility on Illinois Street. In September, 2014, Mission Center relocated to Midland Shared Spaces, where we currently reside and operate.

Today, Mission Center Adult Day Service continues its efforts to further the dream of John and Freddie Utsman by to providing quality health care and activities programming to disabled and elderly individuals in a safe, enriching environment, while providing respite support for their respective caregivers. Mission Center proactively assists clients and caregivers in their decision to age-in-place by remaining in their homes and receiving the care they need from outside resources. We provide preventative care by treating the whole person. Clients receive medical care, nutritional support, and continuous education about disease process management. The environment at Mission Center encourages socialization and fosters relationship building amongst clients, many of whom have like diagnoses and challenges. Our clients are provided the opportunity to thrive, no matter their capacity or capabilities. We also focus on the needs of caregivers, many of whom need respite from the demands of caring for their loved ones. By providing caregiver relief and support, our program accomplishes the dual purpose of not only serving clients, but caregivers as well.
